Global Earthquake Risk Map

Explore global earthquake risk distribution and most dangerous regions.

Global earthquake risk is unevenly distributed, concentrating on the Pacific Ring of Fire and Mediterranean regions. This belt accounts for about 90% of world earthquakes.

Most dangerous regions include Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Turkey, and Iran. These countries sit at multiple active fault lines and plate boundaries.

Japan is especially high-risk with complex plate boundaries and thousands of earthquakes annually. Indonesia is one of the world's most earthquake-active countries. Pacific region activity is intense throughout.

In the Mediterranean, Italy, Greece, and Turkey are high-risk areas. In America, California faces highest risk, with the San Francisco Bay Area particularly vulnerable.

Earthquake risk maps can be used by entering addresses to check specific location risk levels. Personal preparedness plans should be based on this risk assessment.
